September 6, 2005 FROM: Marc Thibodeau/Candi Adams THE PUBLICITY OFFICE (212) 315-2120 SLAVAS SNOWSHOW HITS OFF-BROADWAY BOX OFFICE RECORD $5.7 M One Year Anniversary Celebrated With Father and Son on September 8 San Francisco Curran Theatre To Open April 4 Mexico City To Follow On Thursday night, the internationally-acclaimed SLAVAS SNOWSHOW will celebrate its one year anniversary in New York where it is currently playing at the Union Square Theatre (100 East 17th Street). Since its New York premiere 12 months ago, SLAVAS SNOWSHOW has taken in $5.7 million at the box office, an extraordinary record-breaking result for an Off-Broadway production. To celebrate this significant milestone, the shows Russian-born creator Slava Polunin is to appear in a special anniversary performance with his son, Vanya Polunin. Vanya has performed with the New York production many times over the last year. An artist in his own right, he has simultaneously been forging a name for himself on the New York visual arts scene, with his own exhibition opening at Brooklyns Cave Gallery on Saturday night. While the New York production of SLAVAS SNOWSHOW continues into its second sensational year, plans are already underway for a second company to begin a North American tour, launching in San Francisco on April 4, 2006, followed by Mexico City (dates to be announced). SLAVAS SNOWSHOW is produced by David J. Foster and Ross Mollison, by arrangement with Slava and Gwenael Allen. Created by Slava Polunin, considered by many to be the worlds greatest clown, SLAVAS SNOWSHOW is a magical theatrical experience that melds the unbridled hilarity, and the unexpected poignancy, of the art of clowning with stunning spectacle and awe-inspiring visual images and fantasy, culminating in a heart-stopping snowstorm that engulfs the entire audience. New York has embraced the show, bestowing it with the 2005 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience. SLAVAS SNOWSHOW has been seen in over 80 cities around the world, including Toronto, Paris, Sydney, Rome, Lisbon, and Barcelona, turning sensible (and cynical) adults into awe-struck children. SLAVAS SNOWSHOW is performed by an ensemble of clowns at each performance at the Union Square Theatre (100 East 17th Street). SLAVAS SNOWSHOW plays Mondays at 8 PM; No performance on Tuesdays; Wednesdays through Fridays at 8 PM; Saturdays at 4 PM and 8 PM; and Sundays at 2 PM and 5:30 PM. Ticket prices are $59.90 to $64.90.
